Today's food for thought comes courtesy of MSP Nicola Sturgeon, heard on the BBC speaking in praise of what the powers-that-be now insist we refer to as a 'balanced parliament' (I think they were getting sick of all the jokes...)
"I appreciate that in a UK context that's something people are not particularly used to, but in Scotland we already have a balanced parliament. The SNP is a minority Government in that balanced parliament and we build concensus on an issue-by-issue basis, with different parties.
Small parties in the Scottish Parliament, the Greens for example, they've only got two members of the Scottish Parliament but they use their influence very wisely to win big concessions."
Now substitute another party of your choice for 'the Greens' and 'UK' for 'Scottish'.....
