Ther...There's a lot of sense in that, JuliaM. <br /><br />There is, however, a complication in free-roaming herds of beef cattle; the cow's 9-month gestation period means that most cows put to the bull have three-month-old calves.<br /><br />Cows with young calves are unpredictable at best and a herd will rapidly unite against a perceived threat to their offspring.
